Budget Blinds Perth

We supply and install budget blinds across Perth for homes and businesses.

Budget blinds give you protection from the elements – sun, wind, light rain, and harmful UV rays – without the need to spend a fortune. More affordable blinds might not come with all the bells and whistles like motorised operation or track-guided systems, but they still get the job done.

When installed well, budget blinds can look fantastic. One Stop Ourdoor Blinds can help you find blinds that match both your home’s exterior and your budget.

What Are Budget Blinds?

Budget blinds are a simpler outdoor blind system, without the track-guided or fully sealed design used in premium options like Ziptrak® or Vistaweave.

They are usually:

  • Straight drop: The blind rolls down vertically from a top tube, without side tracks holding it in place.
  • Fixed or guided: It’s secured at the bottom using straps, clips, or guide wires to keep it in position.
  • Manual operation: A spring or hand crank is usually used to lower using a crank, spring, or strap system.

Because budget blinds use tracks, there can be small gaps along the edges, and the fabric may move more in windy conditions. That said, they still provide effective shade and protection for many outdoor spaces.

Where They are Used

We often install budget blinds for:

  • Patios and pergolas
  • Verandahs
  • Outdoor seating areas
  • Rental properties or investment homes

They’re suitable for spaces where the aim is simply to reduce sun exposure or gain some privacy from your neighbours.

What They Do

Even though budget blinds are a simpler system, they’ll make a noticeable difference.
Block direct sunlight
Reduce glare
Give you privacy
Provide some protection from light wind and rain

This makes outdoor areas more comfortable to use during the day, particularly in Perth summers when direct sun is the main issue.

Material Options

Our budget blinds are available in a range of materials that all give different levels and types of coverage, outward visibility, and airflow.

You can opt for mesh made from woven polyester that’s coated with PVC. The open weave allows for airflow while still blocking the sun and its UV rays.
They are commonly used where:

  • Ventilation is important
  • Outward visibility is still needed
  • Full enclosure isn’t required

Mesh allows you to see out quite well as long as there is sufficient ‘openness’. Openness is the percentage of the fabric that consists of small gaps. Different openness levels will change how much light and air pass through.

PVC is a flexible plastic sheeting made for use outdoors. It’s used when an area needs to be more enclosed with a solid barrier.

PVC provides:

  • Protection from wind, rain, and dust
  • A clear or tinted view through the material
  • A more sealed-off outdoor space

PVC provides a solid barrier, but when used with a budget blind system, there will be gaps around the edges. This means the space will have good protection from wind and rain, but not total protection from the elements like you’d get with a track-guided system.

Operation

Budget blinds are manually operated.

Common operation methods include:

  • Strap and clip systems
  • Spring-loaded rollers
  • Crank handles

These systems might not offer the same convenience as motorised systems, but they’re simple and reliable.

Cost vs Performance

As with pretty much anything in life, budget blinds have their benefits and trade-offs.

Budget blinds are:

  • More affordable
  • Simpler in their design
  • Quicker to install

But they also:

  • Don’t seal around the edges
  • Move in strong wind
  • Give you less temperature control

In many cases, this trade-off is acceptable – especially when you just want basic sun protection and not full enclosure.
