There’s no official ranking body that names a single “best” Ziptrak installer in Perth, so it’s worth treating any business that claims that title at face value with a bit of caution. What actually separates a good installer from an average one usually comes down to a few practical things: whether one business stays accountable for the whole job rather than leaving you to chase separate parties, how long they’ve specifically been working with track-guided blind systems, and whether they can talk you through material and sizing options rather than just quoting off a template.

This one’s worth answering carefully, because “waterproof” gets thrown around a lot in outdoor blind advertising and it isn’t always accurate. No external blind system, ours included, will keep out every drop of wind-driven rain in every condition, and we’d rather tell you that upfront than oversell it.
What we can tell you honestly is what our two main fabric options actually do. All of our track blinds use a Vistaweave mesh, across the Budget, SRS and Ziptrak ranges, and how much that mesh blocks comes down to the weave you choose: 95%, 98% or 99%. The higher the percentage, the more it blocks and the less airflow you get. Our clear or tinted PVC option gives you a fuller enclosure again, while keeping your outlook intact. If keeping the weather out is your main priority, we’ll talk through which weave, or whether PVC, makes the most sense for your setup, rather than promising a blanket result that won’t hold up in practice.
The honest answer on “waterproof” blinds
No external blind, ours included, keeps out every drop of wind-driven rain in every condition. Any installer promising that is overselling it. The useful question is not whether a blind is waterproof, it is which fabric and which weave suits the side your weather actually comes from. That is a conversation worth having at the measure.
Again, there’s no single, independently verified “best” brand, and we’d rather give you a straight answer than a marketing one. What we can tell you is that Ziptrak is an Australian-owned and manufactured system, engineered for local conditions rather than built to a generic import spec, and its track-guided design is a patented one that we’d put above its competitors. If you’re comparing quotes from a few different suppliers, a few things are worth checking beyond price alone: whether the blinds are custom-measured to your space or sold in fixed sizes, what the fabric is actually rated for rather than vague claims, whether motorisation is available if you want to add it later, and what happens if something needs adjusting after install. Sizing matters more than people expect too. Our Ziptrak panels go up to 6 metres wide by 3.5 metres high, and hardware is available in any Colorbond shade or a custom powder-coat finish, so it’s worth asking early on whether a supplier can actually match your existing fascia or beams.
It’s also worth asking who stays accountable for the installation. A blind system that’s correctly fitted and tensioned in its tracks will perform much closer to its rated figures than one that’s rushed. We manage that stage ourselves rather than handing you off, so if a panel needs adjusting after it’s in, it’s still our job to sort out.
Both are track-guided systems, so the fabric runs inside side tracks that keep it taut and level rather than flapping loose. Ziptrak uses a patented version of that design which we’d rate above its competitors. The most visible difference is the hood: Ziptrak’s is more rounded, while the SRS hood is more of a box shape. Which one suits your space usually comes down to the opening and the look you’re after, something we can talk through at your measure and quote.
Vistaweave mesh is the preferable product most of the time. It cuts sun and weather while still letting the space breathe, and how much it blocks depends on the weave you choose: 95%, 98% or 99%. Clear or tinted PVC will give you more blockage again, but it also lets in direct sunlight and its glare, which is the trade-off people don’t always expect. Vistaweave mesh is designed to need less cleaning than PVC since it doesn’t hold as much dust and grime, though both fabrics benefit from an occasional wipe-down. The track-guided Ziptrak system itself is built to be low-maintenance day to day, and our aftercare support covers any adjustments if the tension or tracking needs a check after the first year or two of use.
